Our ICAN/WECAN CHILDREN’S VILLAGE

International Children’s Aid Network, ICAN & Worldwide Children’s Aid Network WECAN located in Protea Glen, Soweto South Africa has exciting news.

The Earlybird Educare Day Care group has opened a branch of their excellent education program on the campus of our ICAN/WECAN CHILDREN’S VILLAGE in Protea Glen, Soweto, South Africa. The program states that “Earlybird Educare provides quality where you need it most: equipping your child with the tools they need to thrive at school and beyond”. Earlybird Educare goes on to say, “We support each child’s optimal learning and development through our blended play based approach which includes a combination of child-led free-choice activity periods and teacher-facilitated-small-group and whole-class activity periods.”

In an interview Barbara Peters, chairman of the ICAN Board of Directors recently shared, “having the Earlybird school on our ICAN campus provides a seamless nurturing relationship with the community for our resident children. It also paves the way for the construction of a residential program that builds a neighborhood of homes for staff on available land next to the village. This allows children the privilege of living in a home and family environment. Barbara went on to say, “we already have preliminary construction plans to build an education center with classrooms, restrooms and offices on the ICAN campus. Our master plan has always included day care as one of our primary goals. With that accomplished we can now move on with the vision.”
